There are so many options today for making the table settings at your wedding dazzle and excite. They are a great way to add personality, and given that much of the day is centred on food, drink and conversation; your guests will spend a lot of time socialising at the table so why not make them beautiful and a real talking point.
With this in mind I recently put together a styled shoot focusing solely on different tablescapes and with a band of fabulous suppliers we had great fun playing around with some different ideas for spring/summer styling. Our setting was the beautiful Littlefield Manor in Guildford, a Tudor and Georgian house surrounded by idyllic countryside full of lots of lovely spots to complement our setups.
I’ll take you through the three looks we created to hopefully inspire those of you looking for some fresh ideas for a spring/summer wedding. While each setup is quite different the overarching theme is natural and seasonal, two things I am particularly keen on as a planner and stylist.
All About Greenery
Set in the small barn at the manor we created an intimate, elegant tablescape with the main feature being locally sourced greenery. A botanical wonderland of foliage and texture which shows you don’t need to include flowers to make an impact. The simplicity of the green and white with gold accents is elegant and the hanging installation creates a wonderful feeling of intimacy while bringing the outside in.
Out on the lawns with a slightly more relaxed feel this table with bench seating, cushions and throws is fun while still maintaining some elegance; a perfect spot for enjoying cocktails while taking in the beautiful surroundings. We’ve showcased dried flowers here as an alternative to fresh, a great option if you’re looking for variety as you’re not limited by season and the best bit is you can keep them long after the wedding day as a lovely keepsake. I’ve done some colour mixing here with different pastel shades which are tied together with the sweet lolly favours, champagne cocktails and a stunning cake provided by the very talented Dina of Cakes and Leaves.
This lakeside picnic set up is all about fun and being bold with colours. A dazzling meadow of vibrant locally grown British flowers runs down the centre of the table with additional pops of colour in the tableware, stationery and lolly favours. If you want your guests to relax and embrace your day a luxury picnic could be a great option. We’ve included some delicious grazing platters by Emma from Didi and Dot, which are the perfect accompaniment to a setup like this and add yet more colour to this dazzling display. If you love flowers as much as me, you won’t be able to resist the wow factor of a floral filled milk churn and we’ve even added flowers to the cake! The florist Caroline from Hayloft Floral really has worked her creative magic here and across all our seasonal setups.
And Finally . . .
The sky really is the limit when you start exploring options with designing and creating your tablescapes and it can be so much fun playing around with different colours and textures.
